The name honors printer-scholar Aldus Manutius, whose motto, festina lente (“make haste, slowly”), reflects our grounded approach to organizational change.
About the FounderGreg Eow, Principal
After a 25-year career in research libraries, universities, and nonprofit leadership, Greg created Manutius Group to provide a resource for higher education leaders implementing organizational change. [For more on founding Manutius Group]
As President of the Center for Research Libraries (2019–2024), Greg led a multi-phase organizational realignment of the 75-year-old independent nonprofit serving over 200 institutional members. In partnership with the Board of Directors, he modernized CRL’s governance through a full redesign of the bylaws while reorienting legacy programs to the organization’s mission.
As chief executive of CRL, he held full P&L responsibility and fiduciary oversight, and rebuilt the organization’s operational backbone across HR, Finance, and Facilities, while implementing capital improvements and improving the organization’s financial position.
Prior to CRL, Greg held positions at MIT Libraries, Harvard Library, and Yale University Library. He has served as a member of the Harvard Library Visiting Committee, the Management Board of the MIT Press, and Chair of the Association of Research Libraries’ (ARL) Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee.
A foundational experience was his completion of MIT’s Institute-wide Leader-to-Leader program, where he engaged in an intensive, Office-of-the-President-sponsored project exploring how change is understood, resisted, and enacted within a major research university. In 2025, he dedicated a year to synthesizing over two decades of practitioner experience in research libraries to build on this project, a foundation for Manutius Group's methodology.
Greg holds a PhD in History from Rice University and an MLIS from the University of Pittsburgh. He is a Life Member of the American Historical Association and serves on the AHA Governance Committee.
